Quezon City – The Provincial Minister Br. Edgar Martinez, OFMCap. admitted five candidates to the novitiate. With him is the Novice Master Br. Joel de Jesus, OFMCap. The Novices received the clothes of probation during the initiation rite held last July 12, 2024, at Padre Pio Fraternity, Capuchin Retreat Center. This marks the opening day of the novitiate. The novices asked for the help of God so that the aim of this formation period may be achieved.
The novices are Br. Martin Chiae, Br. Emel Willie, Br. Joseph Kua, Jasson Philip, and Br. Matius Lawrence Derick Goh Siaw Chiang.
For the Capuchins “the novitiate is a period of more intense initiation and more profound experience of the the Capuchin Franciscan gospel life in its fundamental demands. It requires a free and mature decision to try out our form of religious life” (Capuchin Constitution Art. III, 31:1).
Present in the initiation rite were the brothers from Our Lady of Lourdes Seminary, Bl. Jose Ma. de Manila and Companion Martyrs House of Wellness, and Padre Pio Fraternity Capuchin Retreat Center.
