In a spirit of fraternity and shared mission, the Provincial Commission on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (PCJPIC) gathered at the Capuchin Retreat Center, Lipa City, for a meaningful meeting that commenced at 9:00 AM.
The assembly was held with a profound purpose of strengthening ecological initiatives, deepening reflection on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, and uniting efforts as one Capuchin Family in the care and protection of our common home. This was not merely a meeting, but a fraternal call to respond to the cry of the earth, and the cry of the poor with renewed zeal and hope.
A key highlight of the day was the promotion of the Capuchin GEM (Green Environment Movement). More than a program, GEM is envisioned as a lifestyle, one that fosters ecological awareness, sustainable practices, and concrete actions in daily life. While GEM takes root in our Capuchin fraternities, its vision extends beyond cloistered walls, reaching every household, school, parish, and institution, inspiring them to cultivate a culture of care and stewardship of creation.
The meeting was graced by the presence of the Local JPIC Animators from different capuchin fraternities, together with our brothers who serve in specific JPIC ministries: Br. Rolly Briones, OFMCap. (Justice), Br. Jose Raul Rico, OFMCap. (Environment), Br. Jusfer John Albert, OFMCap. (Dialogue), and Br. Joel De Jesus, OFMCap. (Council Liaison).
As we celebrate today the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, we are reminded that our prayer must lead to actions expressed through concrete acts of love, sustainability, and stewardship. May we be able to see beyond convenience and comfort, to examine our lifestyle choices, and to embrace a more conscious and responsible way of living. As brothers and sisters of the same Creator, may we become instruments of healing, promoting life wherever we are, and spreading the green movement, wherever life is shared. Peace and all good.
