Quezon City, Philippines — As Filipino Catholics prepare to celebrate the Feast of Sto. Niño, the Philippine Orthopedic Center has begun its nine-day Novena and Holy Masses, starting January 15, 2025. This year’s theme is “Santo Niño: Pag-asa ng Komunidad sa Paglalakbay.” Led by Fr. Vincent Paul Bitong, OFMCap., the event invites hospital staff and the community to honor this cherished tradition, which is celebrated on the third Sunday of January.
The devotion to Sto. Niño holds profound significance for many Filipinos, symbolizing childhood innocence and familial love. Fr. Delfo Canceran, OP (2016), highlights this connection: “The devotion to Santo Niño brings them back to that primary relationship within the family that they long to relive.” This sentiment resonates deeply with devotees who seek solace and affection through their faith. The Novena will feature daily Masses and prayers, inviting participation from hospital staff, patients, and their families. In addition to the spiritual aspects of the event, the Philippine Orthopedic Center aims to foster a sense of community among its staff and patients. By creating an environment where faith can flourish, the center underscores its commitment not only to physical healing but also to emotional and spiritual well-being.
As the celebration approaches, many are reflecting on what Sto. Niño represents in their lives—an enduring connection to family and a reminder of childhood joys. The Philippine Orthopedic Center’s Novena serves as a poignant reminder of these values as the community prepares for this important feast day.
