In the Christmas antiphon we say “Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.” On December 24, 2024, the Philippine Orthopedic Center embraced this timeless message as families and friends gathered for a heartfelt Holy Mass on Christmas Eve. As the congregation joyfully sang “Glory to God in the Highest,” the atmosphere was filled with warmth and reverence. Rev. Fr. Vincent Paul Bitong, OFMCap., led the Holy Eucharist and emphasized Christ’s profound presence in our daily lives. He reminded everyone that we are cherished by God and encouraged reflection on His unending love.
As Pope Francis stated: “Christmas invites us to reflect on the drama of history, where men and women, wounded by sin, are in search of truth, mercy, and redemption; and on the goodness of God, who came to communicate the Truth that saves and to share His friendship and life with us. This gift of grace is pure grace—unearned by any merit of our own.”
Fr. Vincent’s message resonated deeply with attendees, reminding them that even in challenging times, God’s love is a constant source of strength and hope. His words served as a beacon of light, urging everyone to carry this spirit beyond the church doors into their daily lives.
Following the Mass, attendees partook of the Noche Buena—a cherished Filipino tradition symbolizing unity and gratitude. Meals were served to nurses, guards, patients, and their companions, fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness. The laughter and camaraderie shared during this celebration echoed through the halls, reinforcing bonds within this vibrant community.
On Christmas Day, December 25, after the 8:30 AM Holy Mass, Fr. Vincent continued his mission of spreading joy by bringing the Infant Jesus to all patients. This thoughtful gesture allowed those unable to attend the previous night’s celebration to experience Christ’s love firsthand.
As we reflect on this beautiful celebration at the Philippine Orthopedic Center, let us carry forward the spirit of love and togetherness into our own lives. May we cherish every moment with family and friends and remember that Christmas is not only about celebration but also about sharing hope and compassion with those around us. This Christmas season, let us embrace the message that Christ is born for us—inviting us all to adore Him together.
